Singers, choirs, pianists: Time to enter for 2018

One of the winning choirs at the 2017 festival.

Entries have opened for our 2018 Music competition, which will be held on two weekends towards the end of this year.

Junior pianists and solo singers, along with junior and adult choirs, will compete at The Muni, Albert Road, on Saturday November 24, in a day-long feast of music, adjudicated by Angela Rowley.

This year, for the first time, we are including a new class for Community Choirs, to reflect the growing interest in this type of ensemble.

On the following Saturday, December 1, the venue is St John’s Church, Albert Road, for adult solo singing classes ranging from oratorio to show songs.

There are no set pieces, so the choice of music is yours, within the requirements of each class.

Entries close on October 1, so there’s plenty of time to decide on your choice of music and get your entry in.

Just download the syllabus, print out an entry form or forms, fill in and send with your fee to Doreen Smith at the address on the cover page of the syllabus.

We’ll look forward to welcoming you to ‘The Friendly Festival.’
